Cade published in the Daily Official Journal (DOU), in the last day 25, the approval of the acquisition by CNOOC Brasil, of an additional 5% of the Surplus from the Onerous Assignment of the Field of Búzios, located in the Santos Basin. CNOOC already joined the Consortium with an interest of 5% and the option to purchase an additional 5% was already included in the agreement signed in the auction of the Production Sharing regime for the surplus volume of the Onerous Assignment agreement.
The operation is in line with the strategy of CNOOC Brasil of expanding its activities in the upstream segment of oil and gas by means of farm-in operations, i.e., total or partial acquisition of concession rights held by other companies. According to Cade, the operation is unlikely to result in losses to the competitive environment.
Therefore, CNOOC now holds a participation of 10% in the Sharing Agreement of Búzios, while Petrobras holds 85%. The other partner of the consortium, CNODC, remains with 5%.
