As part of its Strategic Planning for the next quinquennium, Pré-Sal Petróleo S.A. (PPSA) has implemented, as of this year, a Permanent Committee to Reduce Emissions and Capture Carbon. Under the coordination of Antonio Claudio Corrêa, PPSA''s Strategic Planning Advisor, the initiative is intended to identify and assess technologies to reduce emissions and capture carbon, as well as factors and processes related to weather changes in order to establish subsidies to implement corporate engagement policies in connection with industrial partners.

In addition to Antonio Claudio Corrêa the following members integrate the Committee: the Executive Manager of Búzios, Antônio Carlos Capeleiro Pinto, the Well Engineering Coordinator, Eduardo Ponce da Motta, Reservoir Geoscience Coordinators, Isabella Rios and Fernando Koga, and the Reservoir Engineering Coordinator, Márcio Normando.

In November 2021, the matter was addressed for the very first time in a specific event during the 4th Pré-Sal Petróleo Technical Forum, mediated by Antonio Claudio Corrêa. At the occasion, representatives of Equinor, TotalEnergies, Petrobras and ExxonMobil presented its main actions to achieve the challenging goals to reduce carbon. After the successful discussion (https://www.youtube.com/ watch?v=S15QrMQUUrI), which got more than 7,000 views on YouTube, the company decided to handle the matter permanently.
