The president of the Compliance Rio Institute (ICRio), Leandro de Matos Coutinho, and the director of the entity, Anna Carvalho, performed the lecture "Anti-Corruption Compliance" to all the employees of Pré-Sal Petróleo, last Tuesday, July 30th. The event is part of Pré-Sal Petróleo Integrity Week.
According to Coutinho, studies have already demonstrated that companies that are more organized and corruption-free achieve greater profits. "The issue of integrity is on the agenda of the main national and international discussions of the moment. State-owned companies, important mechanisms for State action and intervention in the economy, play a key role in combating corruption. The Anti-Corruption Law and the Law on State-owned Companies bring the necessary instruments to a good performance. Integrity must be part of the company's culture, which needs to adopt good practices, train and make its employees aware through a model of compliance", he explained.
Coutinho stressed that there are important challenges to be addressed within the compliance process, especially regarding consequence management, a term to be learned and incorporated into the culture of organizations. During the debate, Anna Carvalho also discussed the importance of this culture being present all the time in personal and professional life, from the discourse on raising children to small actions in the routine of the company. The president of Pré-Sal Petróleo, José Eduardo Vinhais Gerk, reaffirmed senior management's commitment to the company's ethical culture. "We value business integrity. It is vital to maintain the standards of ethics and excellence in all of our activities. Acting ethically is not just a legal obligation. It is essential to guide our conduct and ensure a healthy relationship with the market", he said.
Pré-Sal Petróleo has an Integrity Policy and is hiring a consultancy firm to implement its integrity program. According to Mauro Braz Rocha, Control and Finance Manager, the program will create all the elements to mitigate the company's integrity risks, promoting the ethical culture and, consequently, protecting its image and reputation. Following the lecture, all the employees renewed their commitment to the company's Code of Ethics and Conduct.
